Ever since I began playing Skyrim, I've been frustrated with the options given to us to manage what NPCs are wearing.I don't think that she will wear the tavern clothes if you give them to her but if you want her to wear certain armor just make sure it is better than what she has on when you give it to her. But you can influence them to wear what you want by providing them with better armor and stuff.
